Summer 2013 is here.  The projects have all been passed back.  The ARts Festival looked fabulous this year with all the wonderful artwork from May Watts Students.  The artroom has been organized and cleaned thanks to many of the students.

I look forward to my son's wedding on June 15th.  I turn 60 on August 10th.  The 2013-2014 will be my last year of teaching.  So I have many milestones this summer.  The rest of the time, I will have fun working in my garden, going to garage sales, walking Matisse and  enjoying relaxing time with friends.

The district is converting over to EDLINE instead of blogging so I will not have any further editions to this blog.  I  hope you can still enjoy what is on it.

In April all classes will be working on the element of art ...COLOR.  Lots of painting will be going on.  Please make sure your child has an art shirt to wear to art class.
Students will learn the color order of the rainbow.  You should also ask them about what are Primary Colors, Secondary Colors, Warm vs Cool Colors, Complimentary Colors.  Fifth grade should be able to tell you about shades and tints.
For the last quarter, artwork will be coming home every 2 weeks.  I will be saving artwork from students to use at the Fine Arts Festival in May.  You will receive a note home if your child will have artwork in the Festival.

As we rap up second quarter, we wrap up our lessons on shape.   You can go to each grade level page to see the lessons your child  did to learn about the element of SHAPE.
The  first weeks of January will be very busy in the artroom.  The Wild About Art Theme will be on display for Open House.   The bulletin boards in the art/music hallway will ROAR with some fabulous artwork by the students.  Be sure to stop by the artroom to say hello that night.   The specials team are the least busiest at the beginning of the evening and then the lines begin to grow into the evening.
We will also be doing the Square 1Art Fundraiser in January.  Students will be drawing a picture of their family.   Then the PTA will send the pictures in to this company and you will be able to buy products with your child's picture on it.   All proceeds from the sale of these products benefit various school programs and equipment.
