18th Century Art meets 21st Century Art.

The first week of February brought not only a BLIZZARD of snow outside but a BLIZZARD of paper inside.

Students in grades 3-5 learned about the 18th century craft of quilling.  Thin strips of paper were rolled around a toothpick to create a spiral design.  Students made several of these in different shapes and then glued them together to create their final design.  Some of them resembled flowers others snowflakes.  The following are quilling designs made by fourth graders.  I used the ELMO camera to take pictures on the spot.

Students in kindergarten thru grade 2 made some old fashioned snowflakes.  While the class was busy snipping and cutting their paper,  each table group got to come up and make a snowflakes using a site on the internet.

Check out that site on the left side of my blog under links.
