Wild about Art
This year the theme for the artroom is Wild About Art!! I have been decorating since the middle of July with a lot of lions, tigers, snakes, trees, etc. to create a very cool jungle. Tables are now both designated by a color and an animal. Also included in their table sign is a picture of the animal in a famous work of Art.The kids seem to really like the NEW look ........as do I! I plan on an entirely different theme for next year. So I guess I will have to raffle off all the animals at the end of the school year.
Looking forward to a great year with all new and returning students!!!
HIP HIPPORAY FOR ART !!
Each table that the students sit at are designated by color and an animal. On the back of the sign is that animal in a famous work of art and a picture of the artist that made it.
The table group that earns the most points during class can sign the ART STARS chart.

The buckets on the tables that hold student's supplies even have an animal attached!!!

Square ART Fundraiser
For the past two weeks, students have been creating handprint animals for the Square Art Fundraiser. Each grade level had a different animal to do.
Kindergarten - frogs
Grade 1 - fish
Grade 2 - dogs
Grade 3 - porcupines
Grade 4 - crabs
Grade 5 - lions
Thank you to the mom helpers who came in and painted kindergarten and first grade hands to make their print. Grades 2-5 got to paint their own hands to create their animals designs. Details were added when the print was dry.
You child will receive a packet with free stickers of the design and a catalog to order other products with their design on them. The funds that are raised go to the school.

OPEN HOUSE
You and your family are cordially invited to attend May Watts School’s Open House on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. We are holding only one Open House this year. To alleviate being overcrowded, we are asking families whose last name begins with “A thru L” attend from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Families whose last name begins with “M thru Z” are requested to attend from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Please stop by the artroom to say hello and be sure to check out our WINTER bulletin board. Each student did a paper person of themselves enjoying the snow. The display cases will also have some weaving that the students did in December with the sub Mrs. Chelmer.
Looking forward to seeing everybody. HINT if you visit the artroom first before your child's classroom. the line is shorter.
